Köstinger sharply attacks Vienna’s mayor because of Corona rules

Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger (ÖVP) sharply attacks Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) in an interview with “Puls 24”. Because Corona continues to be treated more strictly in the federal capital than the federal government now provides, the department head said: “Ludwig would be well advised to follow the expert opinions.”

The federal government announced extensive relaxation of the corona virus on Wednesday. From February 19, there will be a switch from 2G to 3G, but even 3G will fall in March – only Vienna will remain with 2G in gastronomy. “Omicron works differently”, Köstinger justifies these steps, the GECKO report gave “the green light”. The stricter measures in Vienna would “affect gastronomy and tourism companies very much”. The restrictions are “not an end in themselves”, giving people more freedom is “the order of the day”.
