In the stock market, foreigners made net purchases of 24.8 billion won, while individuals and institutions net sold 11.4 billion won and 10.6 billion won, respectively.
By industry, steel and metal (2.25%), insurance (1.95%), distribution (1.30%), and securities (1.34%) are showing strong performance, while the electricity and gas industry is down 1.03%.
Among the top stocks in market capitalization, Samsung Electronics rose 0.13%, SK Hynix rose 0.15%, and LG Energy Solutions and Samsung BioLogics are showing strength in the 1% range.
All three major indices of the New York Stock Exchange closed higher last night, which appears to have stimulated investor sentiment.
On the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.59%, the Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 Index rose 0.76%, and the Nasdaq Index jumped 1.12%.
The stock market cheered the U.S. Treasury’s plan to issue government bonds. Big Tech’s performance is also concentrated this week. Microsoft, Apple, Metaplatform, Amazon, and Alphabet are reporting results one after another. Aircraft manufacturer Boeing and pharmaceutical company Merck are also scheduled to announce their earnings this week.
On this day, the dollar-won exchange rate in the Seoul foreign exchange market opened at 1,334.5 won, down 1.2 won from the previous day.
