KOSPI plunged 3.5% on US inflation shock… 2,500 ‘Tuck-ups’

The KOSPI plummeted more than 3% in the aftermath of the US inflation shock, threatening the 2,500 level.

Today (13th), the KOSPI closed at 2,504.51, down 91.36 points, or 3.52%, from the previous trading day.

The index opened at 2,550.21, down 45.66 points 1.76% from the battlefield in the aftermath of the US price shock announced on the 10th local time, showing a sharp decline from the beginning of the market, and the decline further increased in the afternoon.

Following the previous intraday low of 2,546.80 recorded on the 12th of last month, it also recorded the lowest level since the closing price of 2,493.97 on November 13, 2020.

Individuals bought 668.7 billion won, but foreigners and institutions sold 212.9 billion won and 500 billion won, respectively.

The KOSDAQ index also closed at 828.77, down 41.09 points, or 4.72%, from the previous trading day.

Individuals net bought 26.1 billion won and foreigners 43.4 billion won, and institutions net sold 70.5 billion won.

The won/dollar exchange rate in the Seoul foreign exchange market closed at 1,284.0 won, which surged 15 won 10 days ago, and reached the highest level since 1284 won 10 days ago on the 16th of last month.
