An alarm was sounded at Korydallos Prisons following the discovery of a pistol, built into a cell wall.
In the last 5 years alone, 128 criminals have been detained in this particular cell.
This time slot was empty and another prisoner was regarding to enter. Before this was done and following information a metal detector check was carried out and the gun was located in the wall, with a magazine of 19 rounds, which was loose in individual parts inside six improvised packages, it is unknown how long it had been there.
Specifically, the investigation was carried out in the 4th Wing in the common areas and in cell 113, which is empty and under construction.
An investigation is being conducted into the incident in order to establish which prisoner, in what way, when and above all, for what purposes he had carried out this act, which might be used in a possible escape to take prison inmates hostage or even for an armed confrontation with them, while the questions that need to be answered are how the pieces of the weapon got into the prisons, but also the building materials that were used to build the cache of the weapon.
The weapon has been transferred to the Forensic Laboratories of EL.AS. in order to find any fingerprints or genetic material.
