Korydallos: Emergency control in the prisons, mobile phones, knives and poles were found – 2024-07-11 22:10:41

In continuation of the continuous and frequent, regular and extraordinary checks carried out in the country’s penitentiaries, on Saturday July 6 an emergency check was carried out in its 4th ward Korydallos Penitentiary.

During the emergency wide-scale inspection of cells and common areas of the 4th wing of the Penitentiary, a number of items were found and confiscated.

Specifically, 6 mobile phones were confiscatedhandsfree headphones, 4 mobile phone chargers, 1 TV BOX controller, 1 mobile phone case, 8 improvised knives, 2 trade knives, 1 trade plastic knife, 3 improvised skewers, 1 metal skewer and 16 poles

The prisoners, in whose cells the findings were found, were arrested and the prescribed disciplinary and criminal procedure is being followed by the competent police authorities and the Piraeus Prosecutor’s Office.

Aim of the leadership of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, in collaboration with the General Secretariat Anti-Crime Policy, is to take all necessary and appropriate measures to ensure the smooth operation of prisons and to ensure the safety of prisoners, prison officials and the entire society.

Conducting frequent checks is part of the strategic planning of the Ministry of Citizen Protection for a modern penitentiary security policy in penitentiaries.
