In an interview with Infobae Peru, Korina Rivadeneira referred to her recent film ‘An unexpected marriage’. The actress revealed that she was aware of all the controversy that this tape would generate, however, she accepted the proposal because it not only meant a leading role in her career, but she was also sure that she had nothing to fear. “I have not done anything wrong,” she said.
What does ‘An unexpected marriage’ mean to you?
For me, this movie is a before and following. It is satisfaction and achievements. Believe it or not, it has taken me many years of effort to achieve this leading role. Many, many years. It has been at least 13 years of being following this dream, wanting a leading role to be given and finally it was achieved. I feel like I’m in a dream.
When you read the script for the first time, did you think that it would bring controversy?
Yes. In fact, when they told me regarding it without reading the script, I said: ‘I know what I’m capable of, I know I’m a very good actress, but they’re calling me because my story has a lot to do with what It happened to Valeria’, who is a girl that exists. I thought so. And that, obviously, is going to make the public more interested. After I read the script, I realized that it had nothing to do with my story. It was provided, but no.
Did you hesitate at any point to accept the role of Valeria?
Look, when I did the casting, the director and everyone were very happy. Seeing that happiness made me understand that the intention was good, it was not double-edged, it was something authentic. That was what made me decide to accept.
Did Mario Hart tell you anything regarding the plot of the movie?
He always supports me. I even think that through him they contacted me, he was always up to date with everything. Also, I have nothing to fear because whatever they say, if they go to see the film, they will easily realize that it has nothing to do with my story. That is super important and it keeps me calm. If I did things right, everything will be fine. About this, Mario just told me to be very careful and that’s what I did.

You cannot deny that this film, in some way, has made us remember how the story of your marriage to Mario Hart was…
Regarding the film, I am acting, and I am fulfilling a leading role, which is what I like. Finally, it was a huge opportunity, there was no turning it down. Regarding my relationship with Mario, we really fell in love. We started dating and there came a time when we got hooked because our history was quite particular. We no longer wanted to be apart. After that, well, the people, the press found out and that’s where the madness began.
But the marriage was unexpected…
I know that I have not done things wrong. I was regarding to leave (because of the extradition order). I didn’t want to leave, but I also said, ‘I don’t have to go through this, they said horrible things to me on social media.’ Until one day, Mario, in a very nice, very authentic way, took me to the beach and asked me to marry him. He told me, ‘I don’t want you to go, I love you and I want to be with you. So please, marry me’. So a relationship that started from love and has continued is more than enough for people to realize that it is real. In addition, we have children, we are a consolidated family, there are many things.
And do you feel that Mario Hart has matured with you?
Honestly, the one who has matured the most is me (laughs), because I was the most immature. He has taught me a lot, but if you say that because he was a hummingbird, well, yes, obviously he has matured. I think that he, from day one, was very much in love with me. He had a hard time being with me, but a lot, so it’s something he values.

How has your life been as a couple with children, today there are many separations in between?
I can only talk regarding my relationship, but it is very difficult to talk regarding other people’s relationships because we are all different, we all live different realities. And there is no way to give general advice, because what each one lives is something very complex. In some cases, a relationship is no longer enough, and the healthiest thing to do is to cut it off, whether they have children or not. And in other cases, if you can continue fighting, you have to continue. It’s always good to remember what made me fall in love with this person.
How do you do?
It is true, we have had ups and downs, but nothing so serious, nothing to end or go to therapy for a problem, which is not bad either. We have gone to therapy, but not because of the relationship, it is because I have wanted therapy and then we both got together. There is love, but there is also a matter of admiration, I admire him for everything he does, because he is super professional and also extremely talented, a hard worker. And he admires everything I do.
Korina Rivadeneira gave this interview during the relaunch of Magacin 24.7 magazine, where her great friend Fiorella Rodríguez will be part of the staff. With great joy, the Venezuelan showed her all her support and she was thrilled with this new challenge in her career.
