About 43,000 scouts who participated in the ‘2023 World Scout Jamboree’, which started in Saemangeum on the 1st and expanded nationwide, left for their home countries on the 12th following a 12-day long journey.

On the way to departure, members from each country expressed regret and gratitude, saying, “I will never forget Korea.” Some countries stay in Korea longer and continue the ‘After Jamboree’.

On this morning, Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport was crowded with scouts from various countries returning home following a long journey. The expression of Washington (16), a male member of the Ecuadorian team, was clearly regretful. “The Jamboree was canceled, but I had a good time on the city tour,” he said sadly, “I want to stay in Korea longer, but I am sad to leave.” At the same time, he said, “I especially remember that Korean people were so kind and responded well.”

Although they must be exhausted from the arduous schedule, the faces of the members were all bright. They moved in a row, chatting nonstop with the crew, and boasting of the souvenirs they bought in Korea. The ‘Jamboree Spirit’ continued until the last moment, such as approaching members of other countries without hesitation and comparing each other’s badges and scarves.

It was a tournament with many problems due to bad weather and lack of preparation, but the team members said they will keep good memories of Korea. A female crew member from Sweden said, “I was fortunate enough to be assigned to a fun schedule, so I had a lot of fun. The Mud Festival was especially fun.” He said, “I visited a Korean university, saw a performance, and got nail art for free,” and she proudly held out her nails.

The K-Pop Super Live concert held on the last day also received positive reviews. A teenage male member from Ecuador raised his thumb, saying, “It was short, regarding two hours, but the K-pop concert was the best of all schedules.” Amelia (14), a female member of the Chilean crew, also said, “The concert is the most memorable for me.”

A farewell ceremony was also held to distribute gifts to the members. The Chilean and Swedish crew members who arrived first lined up to receive the gifts. The gifts consisted of a tumbler, a thermos bottle, and a toothbrush and toothpaste set. Elisa (15), a Chilean female crew member, took out a tumbler with the Incheon Airport logo on it and looked at it. She smiled and said, “I think I can remember Korea.”

820 Portuguese and Malaysian Jamboree members also left the Chonbuk National University dormitory on the same day and were on their way home. The members who left the Saemangeum camp on the 8th due to the typhoon entered the Chonbuk National University dormitory and have been digesting the rest of the Jamboree schedule until this day.

The members of the crew were bright as they boarded the bus bound for Seoul. Team member Sarah (Portugal, 16) said, “It was a pity that we mightn’t finish the planned schedule at the Saemangeum camp,” but added, “This regret disappeared with the hospitality of Jeonbuk National University. Thank you very much.”

Team member David Buda (Portugal, 17) also said, “I felt that everyone thought of us from one to ten. I am very grateful for your meticulous consideration,” he said.

About 1,600 Scouts from Sweden, Armenia, and Comoros, who were staying at Baekseok University in Chungcheongnam-do, were also on their way to Korea that day. Sophie Bertini Lindenao (15, female), a Swedish scout member, said, “The dormitory was comfortable and pleasant. In particular, Taekwondo lessons and pottery crafts were the most interesting,” he said. “When I think of the 2023 Jamboree, I think memories from Baekseok will come to mind.” World Scout Jamboree Hungary representative leader Balint Patrick also left the Konyang University dormitory in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do this morning, saying, “I will not forget the consideration (Konyang University and Nonsan City)” and “If you come to Hungary, we will take care of you equally well.” From the 8th to the 12th, Konyang University provided dormitories on the Creative Convergence Campus to Hungarian members who had withdrawn early from Saemangeum.

The Jamboree members who visited Chungbuk were also on their way back home one by one that day. Some 3,200 members from five countries, including Korea (416), Chile (1020), Japan (1557), Honduras (30), and the United Kingdom (250), who evacuated early from Saemangeum, spent 4 nights and 5 days in Chungbuk from the 8th. stayed in

Meanwhile, some members remain in Korea to continue their additional schedule. Jeonbuk-do will run the ‘Post-Jamboree Tour Program’ in various places in the province until the 14th. Members can freely enjoy sightseeing and experiences rather than the official competition schedule. About 520 volunteers from 7 countries, including 165 from Ireland, 93 from the Czech Republic, 76 from Malta, 60 from Poland, 54 from India, 41 from Ecuador and 24 from Guatemala, will participate in the program.

On this day, the eventful World Jamboree officially came to an end. The government plans to continue providing airport transportation and lodging support for the members who leave the country following enjoying their additional schedule.
