Mrs. Kim “Many Koreans want to help Ukraine” Zelenska “A good opportunity to publicize the horrors of the war”
On the 15th (local time), President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife, Kim Kun-hee, who are visiting Ukraine, met Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and delivered a message of support, said Kim Eun-hye, senior public relations secretary, in a written briefing.
Mrs. Kim told Ms. Zelenska, “Korea’s know-how and the strong spirit of Koreans will help Ukraine to rebuild its cities quickly.” On the 12th, she brought up an encounter at the Ukraine Center in Vilnius, Lithuania, where the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO · NATO) summit was held.
First Lady Kim said, “I was very moved by the pictures of Ukrainian refugee children displayed at the center,” adding, “It is like each child became a journalist and informed the horrors of the war.”
He said, “Not only children, but also adults who have experienced the horrors of war and refugees should support overcoming trauma through drawing activities.” In response, Ms. Zelenska expressed her sympathy, saying, “There is a case in Ukraine where a picture drawn by an autistic child who fled during the war moved a lot.”
Mrs. Kim, a former exhibition planner, suggested a plan to exhibit Ukrainian children’s paintings in Korea, saying, “Many people in Korea, including me, want to help Ukraine.”
“I think this is a good opportunity to publicize the horrors of the war,” said Ms. Zelenska, in response, saying, “Let’s discuss together.”
First Lady Kim said, “It is regrettable that the beautiful nature of Ukraine is damaged and cultural assets are lost due to the war.”
