After winning the tough doubles match, Korea easily proceeded to secure victory in the following singles matches. Lee Eun-hye consistently attacked Annette Kaufmann throughout her match and finished with a set score of 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-2). Following her, Jeon Ji-hee sealed the match by defeating Shan Xiaona with a set score of 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-6).

The Korean women’s table tennis team, which had been striving for a medal since the 2012 London Olympics without success, found redemption in this competition.
