Our swimming team won a medal in the team competition at the World Championships for the first time in history.

The final of the men’s 800m relay at the World Championships held today at the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar.

Lane 5 Korea, Lane 4 China.

The start was a bit slow.

The first runner, Yang Jae-hoon, started in 8th place, but with Kim Woo-min and Lee Ho-jun, he rose to 3rd place, and the last runner, Hwang Seon-woo, reversed his performance.

Hwang Sun-woo won the silver medal by running the final 200 meters in a time of 1 minute 43.76 seconds, the best time among all 32 athletes.

Our national team’s record was 7 minutes 01.94 seconds, just 0.1 seconds behind China’s 7 minutes 01.84 seconds, which ranked first.

With his fourth medal in his personal career, Sun-Woo Hwang surpassed Tae-Hwan Park and Su-Ji Kim to become the world championship medalist with the most medals.

Although the honor of Asia’s first championship was lost to China, the golden generation that created the renaissance of Korean swimming will challenge for their first Olympic medal in Paris.
