Kim Min-sun is the rider
At the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, athletes holding the Taegeukgi were replaced.
The Korea Sports Association announced on the 31st that “At the opening ceremony to be held on the 4th, Kim A-rang of short track speed skater Kim Min-seon will be replaced by the former female jockey Kim Min-sun.” It seems that Kim Min-sun’s request was reflected.
Kim Min-sun is regarded as the successor to Lee Sang-hwa, ‘The Ice Queen’. He set a personal best at 37.205 in the 500m in the 4th International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup held in December of last year. At the 76th Comprehensive Speed Championship held on the 13th of last month, he also won multiple gold medals.
Kim Min-sun tied for 16th at the Pyeongchang Olympics four years ago. The exact circumstances are not known, but it seems that they are willing to focus on the Olympics.
Kim A-Rang is a veteran who is regarding to compete in the Olympics for the third time. He is one of the pillars of the cluttered short track team.
The male jockey will be Kwak Yoon-gi, the male short track speed skater.
