The bad series of news for French brands emblematic of a fashion accessible to all budgets has continued since the rout of Camaïeu in September 2022. From month to month, new names are falling: André, the age-old shoe brand (founded in 1896), was placed in receivership on February 2, followed by San Marina, which closed its 163 stores in France on the 18th of the same month. The latest, Gap France and Go Sport were placed, this Wednesday, March 1, in receivership by the Commercial Court of Grenoble. A month before, to the day, Kookaï experienced the same fate, without the existence of the 121 shops in France, nor those abroad, being threatened for the moment. This rout, experienced as a French drama, denotes phenomena that go beyond French borders.
