CHAIRMAN of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari highlighted the importance of Asian countries having more opportunities to host world-class sporting events.
This is one of the missions that KOI will voice at the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) which will be held in New Delhi, India, Sunday (8/9).
“Of course, as President of the National Olympic Committee of Indonesia (KOI), I will maximize this activity so that Indonesia’s existence can be more concrete and can be part of the regulator in the Asian region, namely through the Olympic Council of Asia,” said Okto, as reported by BetweenMonday (9/9).
“For that reason, we are trying to ensure that more Indonesians can sit on the International Federation, Asian Federation, and OCA boards,” he added.
The main agenda of the OCA General Assembly this time is the election of a new President.
There is a single candidate in the election, namely Raja Randhir Singh, who currently serves as the Acting President of the OCA and the election will make him the definitive President for the next four years.

Okto, together with the Executive Committee Harry Warganegara at the OCA General Assembly, also voiced other aspirations related to the Asian Winter Games, which will be held in February 2025.
In addition, in the position of the increasing sports trend throughout the world and Asia in particular, Okto hopes that there will be equality in organizing multi-event activities in the Asian region.
“Because we know that yesterday we faced many challenges, even the same thing was also felt by Thailand which is very unfortunate, finally yesterday they sent a letter to all NOCs in Asia regarding the cancellation of the Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games,” explained Okto.
“This is what we will also ask and bring to the Olympic Council of Asia, so that we can get certainty about the preparations made by athletes to be sent to AIMAG 2025,” he added. (Z-6)
