Mohali: In the 100th Test, Virat Kohli (45) was dismissed for a half-century while Rishabh Pant (96) fell for a century. India scored 357 for six on the first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka.

Apart from the ball and Kohli, Hanuma Vihari (58) and Ravindra Jadeja (45 *) also shone. Mayank Agarwal (33), skipper Rohit Sharma (29) and Shreyas Iyer (27) got off to a good start but could not capitalize.

Rohit won the toss and elected to bat. Rohit and Mayank added 52 runs in 10 overs for the first wicket. Rohit Lahiru Kumar, who was in the ODI mood, was sent off for attempting a boundary.

Though Mayank returned soon after, Vihari and Kohli added 90 runs for the third wicket to lead India. With Kohli and Vihari coming close, India were bowled out for 175 in four overs. Suranga Lakmal was bowled for four off 97 balls with four sixes and nine fours.

For Sri Lanka, Lasith Embuldenia took two wickets while Lakmal, Vishwa Fernando, Kumara and Dhananjaya D’Silva took one wicket each.
