The new season of Koh Lanta has started, Tuesday, February 22, 2022two months later the bitter season finale « All Star »completed without a winner fault of cheating.
The production has once once more chosen a heavenly setting for these forty days of adventure. After two seasons in French Polynesia, the twenty-four castaways will compete this year on the beaches and translucent waters of Bacuit Bay, in the Philippines.
Twenty-four anonymous
This is their first participation in the cult TF1 show. Among these anonymous people, aged 20 to 52, there are twelve women – including an acrobat dancer from the Moulin Rougea croupier from Paris, a communicator from the South-East, two sports coaches from Morocco and Greece – and twelve men: a firefighter from Hérault, an accountant from Loire-Atlantique, a basketball player from the Alpes-Maritimes or even a digital Swiss manager.
The adventurers of Koh Lanta begin to get to know each other aboard a banka, a local boat, but Denis Brogniart joins them to kick off. A first individual event, offering two advantages in case of victory, awaits them. In contrast, the lowest performing male and female will experience the Curse of the Cursed Totem. Indeed, the last two will be overwhelmed with an additional vote once morest them, at each council until reunification.
Three teams and a cursed totem
Barely presented, the shipwrecked people therefore set off with their backpacks into the bay to reach the beach. If the test, combining sporting effort and logic, is individual, the candidates must together pull two trunks, buried in the water, on the sand. Inside are wooden pieces with which everyone must piece together a square.
While everyone is busy with their puzzle, Setha is just coming out of the water, dead last, but the 34-year-old graphic designer manages to catch up. It is Lili who arrives last of the women, while five men are still in the game. The Breton company manager and Yannick, a 34-year-old basketball player, thus suffer the curse of the cursed totem. To symbolize their disadvantage at the next councils, the two castaways will wear a bracelet until reunification or their elimination.
For their part, the two winners of the event, Alexandra and Jean-Philippe, become the team captains and must also choose the leader of the third tribe. “You shouldn’t have done that” laments Céline, elected to compose the blues team. The 41-year-old nurse does not feel like a leader. The three captains call the candidates in turn to form equal teams, but at the end of this distribution, the young Matteo collapses, sad to be the last chosen. “It doesn’t take much to lose my self-confidence” says this 20-year-old classical dancer.
Not rice, but bamboo and a stinging root
The three teams, each made up of eight adventurers, return to their camp. On their island, no rice… but a stock of bamboo intended for the construction of a raised cabin, due to the presence of snakes.
Survival can really kick off, huts rise. On the purple Turung camp, Jean-Charles takes charge of the work. Fustier by trade, the 40-year-old man works raw wood for construction.
On the Napaln blue camp, Alexandra’s authoritarian personality is starting to cause debate, while Benjamin, from Loire-Atlantique, is already thinking regarding strategies. Among the greens, named Ilog, Franck bears the brunt of the wild life. The dean of the adventure, compared to François Bayrou by Internet users, tastes a very stinging root, paralyzing his mouth for long minutes.

Two tips
After a first night agitated by the pouring rain, a classic of Koh Lanta awaits adventurers for the first immunity test: rubber bands. Connected by a rubber band, the castaways must recover one by one the ten witnesses planted in the sand. The team that first brandishes the tenth and last baton, the furthest away, wins the test.
In keeping with this season’s title, the cursed totem will penalize the losing team, but only the winner will escape the council.

The blues win the event. The purples are second while the greens, who arrived last, suffer the curse of the cursed totem: the council takes place immediately on the beach. Lili, who had an additional way in the ballot box, is eliminated following only one night spent in the adventure. Before extinguishing her torch, the Breton entrepreneur passes on her cursed bracelet to Pauline.
Among the violets, alliances are taking shape and strategies are being put in place as the council approaches. But the illusion of an immunity collar didn’t work for Celine. The team leader, who did not want to take on this role, left Koh Lanta, believing “the rug has been pulled out from under him”.
