140 million euros earmarked. Applications electronically at www.ekz-npo.at
Vienna (OTS) – The increased energy costs in the wake of the Russian attack on Ukraine have posed massive challenges in the past two years not only to households and companies, but also to non-profit and voluntary organizations such as sports or cultural clubs or social institutions.
As part of its package of measures to strengthen the non-profit sector, the federal government has also launched an energy cost subsidy for non-profit organizations (EKZ-NPO). The support measure is aimed at non-profit organizations and church institutions that do not operate as businesses and are therefore not eligible to apply for the energy cost subsidy for companies.
The EKZ-NPO is designed in such a way that the significantly higher energy costs are cushioned, but energy saving incentives are retained. Applications for the 2022 funding period can be submitted from January 22nd.
Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler: “Non-profit and voluntary organizations are immensely important for our country. No matter whether in a sports or cultural club, in an aid or environmental organization – this is where people come together and advance a common cause. This joint, constructive work is the most effective antidote to hate speech. Non-profit organizations have also been exposed to great strain in recent years due to high energy prices. With this energy cost subsidy, we are now relieving and supporting those who do so much for cohesion in our society.”
Youth State Secretary Claudia Plakolm: “3.7 million people in Austria do voluntary work and thus make a significant contribution to cohesion in our society. Volunteering is not only a matter of honor for them, but also for us as the federal government. I am therefore glad that we With the energy cost subsidy, we can give our clubs and organizations a real helping hand following challenging years and thus provide strong support for voluntary work in our country.”
The EKZ-NPO supports 30% of the additional energy costs in 2022 and 50% of the additional energy costs in 2023. Funding for energy costs that has already been used does not constitute a reason for exclusion, but must be deducted from the eligible costs.
The federal government has made up to 140 million euros available for this measure. The EKZ-NPO is handled by Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH (AWS), the federal development bank.
Applications for 2022 can be submitted electronically on the platform from January 22nd to June 30th, 2024 www.ekz-npo.at where further information can also be found. Applications for 2023 will be possible in the second half of the year.
