Koffi Olomidé sentenced to 18 months suspended sentence and a large fine –

Koffi Olomidé is acquitted on appeal for sexual assault on four of his former dancers. Absent from the Versailles court for the deliberations, the Congolese rumba star was, however, convicted of kidnapping and received an 18-month suspended sentence and a heavy fine.

72,000 euros divided between the four victims. This is the sum that Koffi Olomidé will have to pay to his four ex-dancers who accused him of sexual assault and kidnapping in his villa in the Paris suburbs in the mid-2000s.

Considering that they were deprived of their liberty and monitored, the judges of the Court of Appeal upheld the confinement but not the sexual assaults, nor the assistance with entry and illegal stay in France.

Far from the eight years in prison required by the prosecution once morest “this powerful man”, as the prosecutor described him, Koffi Olomidé is therefore sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for three years, with a ban on contacting the victims. .

Disappointment of the victims
At first instance, the Congolese rumba star, 65, was given a two-year suspended sentence for sexual assault on one of the four young women, a minor at the time of the events, but was acquitted of all the rest.

Leaving the court, the victims’ lawyer expressed the disappointment of his clients but recognized that the fine was very substantial. Neither for his part nor for Koffi Olomidé’s lawyers, do we know whether the parties will appeal to the Court of Cassation.
