Kochi Arrests: Unraveling the Honey Trap Extortion Case

Kochi ∙ Two persons have been arrested in the case of trying to extort money from a youth by falling into a honey trap. Ernakulam Central Police arrested Manisha (26), a resident of Tripunithura Palliparambukav Road, and her friend Suni (34), a resident of Mattanchery Gujarati Road.

While working in the flat, the young man who worked as a tiler met Manisha who was a domestic worker there. Manisha borrowed 2000 rupees from the young man. Meanwhile, Manisha asked the young man to book a room in a hotel in Ernakulam North. At 15, the young man took a room in the hotel and waited. Manisha came to the hotel with Suni. Leaving Suni outside, Manisha entered the room. Suni entered the room following ringing the calling bell, kicked the young man and hit him on the face with a hammer. He threatened the young man with a knife and grabbed his necklace. The attacker said that Manisha is Suni’s wife. They were taken away by the hotel staff who heard the commotion.

Following the incident, the young man sought treatment at a hospital in Manjumal. However, Manisha called him on the phone and demanded money to settle the issue. With this, the young man came to the station with a complaint. A case was registered and both were arrested during the investigation. The necklace sold by the accused was recovered from the jeweler at Palluruthi and the money received from the sale of the necklace was recovered from the accused.
