Kobe Bryant’s ring up for auction 2024-03-18 15:12:05

The gold ring, which will be sold at Goldin March’s upcoming Elite Sports Auction, commemorates Kobe Bryant’s first championship victory.

Bryant helped the Lakers win the 2000 NBA title in a six-game sweep of the Indiana Pacers despite suffering a sprained ankle during Games 2 and 3. In Game 4, he went 47 of 53 minutes and scored 28 points for his team. The winning Lakers were then awarded their coveted championship rings.

The auction ring isn’t the version players received, but it’s “exactly the same” according to Goldin. Bryant reportedly ordered an extra copy of the ring as a special gift for his father, Joe “Jellyband” Bryant, who famously played in the NBA for eight seasons and averaged 8.7 points per game from 1975 to 1983 .

Crafted from 14k gold, the size 11 ½ ring weighs 59.6 grams and features 40 stunning diamonds. The word “Lakers” is centered in purple enamel, while “World” and “Champions” are written across the top and bottom of the design.

Bryant’s name is on one side, as is the Lakers’ 67-15 regular season record. On the other side are the words “Bling Bling” and a board with a diamond ball going into a basket.

Other memorabilia to be sold at the Elite Sports auction is Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2016 NBA championship ring, Kevin Durant’s 2017 Golden State Warriors jersey and Steph Curry’s signature sneakers.

The auction will be held online on March 31.
