Min-jung Ko Min-jung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, used the subway to go to the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul on the 6th in a wheelchair.
Assemblyman Koh posted a Facebook post on the same day, saying, “I went to work in a wheelchair from Gangbyeon Station to the National Assembly Station.
Rep. Ko said △ The ticket gates do not open automatically even when the card is inserted △ The nervousness of what to do if the wheels are caught between the platforms △ The awkwardness of being in an aisle instead of where there are seats △ Taking a long breath even when you see a small incline △ He mentioned that wheelchairs cannot be moved even if the height of the threshold of the platform is slightly different, and the elevator is too far away.
He said, “There were many things that I mightn’t feel without being a part of it.” “There are several elevators that have not been repaired for several years now, and it was only today that I found out why the subway elevator door had to be open for 20 seconds due to the wide gap in the platform.” said
He continued, “I personally felt that the installation of an elevator is the beginning, not the end, of the mobility of the disabled.”
Previously, CEO Lee had been criticizing Jeon Jang-yeon since the 25th of last month when he took part in a subway protest demanding the right to move the disabled and de-facilization. He said through SNS, “We need to actively intervene in the absurdity of the struggle for the right to move for the daily life of the disabled, which holds the morning of millions of Seoul citizens hostage.”
Jeon Jang-yeon’s side immediately requested Lee’s public apology, but was rejected. Rather, on CBS Radio’s ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show’, when asked, ‘Is there no apology for Jeon Jang-yeon?’, he said, “I have nothing to apologize for.” I am willing to accept it.”
Meanwhile, CEO Lee and co-CEO Park Gyeong-seok and co-representative Jeon Jang-yeon will have a one-on-one discussion on the ‘moving right issue’ through a live broadcast on JTBC’s ‘Ssuljeon’ at 3 pm on the 13th.
