St. Polten (OTS) “Before the SPÖ Lower Austria chairman Sven Hergovich attests other parties’ lack of economic competence, he should speak to those economists who have expressed unanimous criticism of his demands in the past few days. When it comes to issues as complex as bank interest rates, the simplest solutions are not always the best. Sven Hergovich ignores the warnings of all experts and at the same time denies all other parties the economic competence. Either he knows more than all economists in our country or he is simply on the wrong track with his ideas. I’m sure: the second is true,” said the club chairman of the People’s Party of Lower Austria, Jochen Danninger.

Regarding the SPÖ fake facts on housing, Danninger continues:
“Even if it is repeated several times, a false statement will not become true: There is no freeze on construction in Lower Austria. There are more than 6,000 residential units in subsidized housing in the construction phase. In addition, there are 350 new residential units that are currently being tested and construction can begin shortly. At the last meeting of the Housing Promotion Advisory Board on June 14, at which Hergovich also sat at the table, but apparently wasn’t paying much attention, it was decided to refurbish 1,300 more residential units. In total, we are therefore talking about 7,650 residential units.”

“As the provincial councilor for building law, it is also Sven Hergovich’s responsibility to make a contribution to affordable housing for the people of Lower Austria. That’s exactly what the Lower Austrian housing developers are expecting – unfortunately in vain to this day,” Danninger concludes.
