Monsignor Mariano José Parra Sandoval will preside mass in the church of Los Olivos.
The Catholic Church is prepared for this Ash Wednesday, with a program in each of the parishes in Caroní.
For Father Manuel Díaz, parish priest of the Pro Catedral Nuestra Señora de Fátima in Puerto Ordaz, the imposition of ashes is a sign of repentance and reconversion for Christians.
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, that is, 40 days of preparation for the Easter holidays. “There are 40 days where we have purposes of fasting, prayer, almsgiving, this helps us to live a life of prayer centered on the Father and repentance,” says Father Díaz.
The priest adds that in Lent Christians make a point of changing behaviors and attitudes, “everything that separates us from the love of God.”
