The Velan studio has just announced that from the 2nd year of Knockout City the studio will publish its own game. Thus, it will no longer be under the control of EA. In addition, we learn that by the spring, the new kind of dodgeball title will become ”free-to-play”. This is the next step for the game according to Velan. Until the title becomes free, you will still need to create an EA account to play it, but once the change is made you will no longer be required to do so to take advantage of the title.
The studio tells us that once they self-publish the game, the development team will be able to realize their vision for the future of Knockout City.
“We have exciting plans for
Knockout City, and bringing publishing in-house will allow us to
fully realize our vision for the long-term future of this game,”
“There’s so much to look forward to because this is just the
beginning.”
Velan also explains that in order to be ready for this change, season 5 will have a little less content than the previous ones, as the team is busy working on the change to ”Free-to-play”. . There will therefore be no new balloons or new cards for this 5th season. Of course, you will be able to enjoy new cosmetic content for your characters and teams. We can therefore expect an avalanche of content during season 6.
In short, here is an interesting change for this title, which according to several people should have been ”free-to-play” from its launch.
