Knights of the Old Republic Remake is changing studios and moving to Saber Interactive

We could have suspected it, but it is now half confirmed. In his last speech, Embracer Group reported a change of studio for one of his upcoming AAAs, without indicating which. With all the troubles faced by Aspyr on the development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remakethere was no real doubt that it was indeed this project that was concerned, and Bloomberg confirms it again today.

The remake in danger?

Jason Schreier reveals that this remake project for Star Wars KOTOR has been removed from the hands of Aspyr, to entrust it to Saber Interactivea much more massive structure that is also part of Embracer Group.

Saber had already come in to help Aspyr on the project, but the latter had been put on hold following poor feedback. Now, Aspyr completely leaves the hand, which will not surprise many people. Even if the studio has experience on the series Star Wars, we only know it through remasters and ports which are nowhere near as ambitious as a complete remake of a great RPG like Star Wars KOTOR (especially on new generation).

If Embracer assures that this will not cause a delay in development, it is hard to believe, even though Saber Interactive has more means and resources than Aspyr. It is therefore not tomorrow that we will see Revan and company again, and that is a shame.
