The street of Catalonia in Villers-la-Ville was apparently the scene of a settling of accounts with knives on Wednesday evening. Many police officers were deployed on the spot, as well as several emergency vehicles. There are 5 people injured, affected to varying degrees but some quite seriously, according to information circulating on the spot, have been distributed among several hospitals in the region.
The mayor of the city, Emmanuel Burton, also went to the scene. Reached by us, he specified that he was not yet authorized to give further information on the facts. On Facebook, he simply wrote that the rue de la Catalonia was closed from the intersection with the rue du Calvaire and from the Chaussée de Namur. “Please avoid the area”.
We therefore do not currently know the causes of this violent settling of accounts.
