A knife attack occurred this Sunday evening, around 8:30 p.m., at Grand Large in Mons. Many of you have notified us via the orange Alert us button. On the spot, several witnesses attended the scene. The prosecution reports three injuries, two of them serious.

Sunday evening, around 8:30 p.m., a violent altercation took place on this very busy Mons site in good weather. A face to face, it seems, between young people and a man. “After the man left so we said ‘it’s good’. But a few minutes later, he came back with a hood. We said it was normal, that they were talking to each other. And at one point they were all screaming so I turned around and that’s when I saw him stab it with a knife. Once I saw him stab the knife I didn’t. I didn’t look anymore. What I wanted was just to leave because I was scared”says a young woman, witness of the facts.
Two people were seriously injured, they are still in critical condition. These are men born in 1990 and 1991 who are in intensive care. A young girl, meanwhile, seems to be doing better, without serious injury. She was born in 2000. The three victims are from Mons.
Thirty people were present at the time of the attack. All left the site in panic. “All of a sudden, we saw a lot of people running and shouting everywhere. Suddenly, I turned around and there, I saw that there were people who were planting themselves with a knife. As soon as we saw that… We saw a lot of people throwing themselves into the trunks of cars to get away in a hurry. We did the same, we quickly got out of there. We got out a few meters away and from there, we saw several police and ambulance suits. I was traumatized, shocked…”says Lydie.
The police indeed quickly intervened at the Grand Large. Once there, the police manage to arrest the man who allegedly stabbed him. The individual, born in 1992, was heard by Mons police investigators this Sunday evening, but for now, it is impossible to explain the origin of the facts. The Mons public prosecutor’s office confirms, however, that an examining magistrate has been seized. The attempted murder might thus be retained.
This Monday morning, the investigators were present at the scene to identify all the signs of the attack. Several witnesses have also already been heard.
