It is very hard to wait at the bus stop in the hot summer. KMB announced that it will arrange electric buses to park at specific bus terminals as mobile cool-climate compartments. Passengers can rest and wait on the electric buses first. Press the bus displayed on the App1933. At the estimated time of arrival, go to the platform where the route belongs to and board the train. Selected bus stops include Tsuen Wan West Station, Sham Shui Po (Yin Chow Street), Po Lam Terminus, and Wong Tai Sin Terminus.
KMB also pointed out that it has applied to government departments for water refilling stations and drink vending machines to help reduce physical discomfort caused by extremely hot weather. Currently, KMB has set up water refilling stations at 90 bus stops. The bus captain will let passengers board the bus earlier if the situation permits, shortening their waiting time in the hot weather outside.
KMB announced earlier that 16 new-generation pure electric single-deck buses will be put into service in April, including on busy roads such as Nathan Road. The 52 electric double-decker buses purchased earlier are expected to arrive in Hong Kong next year. By then, KMB will have more than 80 pure electric buses.
