Moscow. Nov. 1. INTERFAX.RU – The Klyuchevskoy volcano, which erupted in Kamchatka, threw out a column of ash to a height of up to 10 km above sea level on Wednesday morning, reports the main department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Kamchatka Territory.

“The ash plume is spreading in a south-easterly direction towards the Pacific Ocean. On its way is the village of Nikolskoye, Aleutian municipal district. A small amount of ash can fall there,” the report says.

So far, no ashfalls have been recorded in populated areas. There are no tourist groups in the volcano area.

Klyuchevsky has a red aviation hazard code.

As reported, on Tuesday Klyuchevskoy emitted ash four times, the height of the largest emission reached 10 km above sea level. On Tuesday morning, ash fell in the villages of Lazo and Atlasovo, Milkovsky district.

Earlier, seismologists warned of a possible powerful eruption of Klyuchevsky, as nearby seismic stations record a large number of volcanic earthquakes and spasmodic volcanic tremors, the intensity of which continues to increase.

Local residents and tourists are asked not to approach the volcano and its surroundings due to the danger of ash emissions and landslides.

Klyuchevskoy volcano began to erupt in June of this year. Prior to this, the volcanic eruption was recorded from the fall of 2020 to August 2021.

Klyuchevskoy is an active volcano in the east of Kamchatka, its height is 4.85 thousand meters. It is located 360 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on its slope 30 km from the top the village of Klyuchi is located. Klyuchevskoy is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
