Klosterneuburg secures top six place – sport.ORF.at

The Klosterneuburg Dukes were the last team to make it into the top six in the last round of the regular season in the Basketball Superliga (BSL). The Lower Austrians defeated the Fürstenfeld Panthers away on Saturday with 85:76 following overtime. At the same time, the Dukes benefited from the 72:77 home defeat of UBSC Graz once morest the Oberwart Gunners, which means that the Styrians have to go into the qualifying round. The Traiskirchen Lions are also there.

The Lions, who also had hopes for sixth place and thus for the placement round, had to admit defeat to the Kapfenberg Bulls by a hair’s breadth with 87:89. With the victory in Klosterneuburg, Traiskirchen would not have achieved anything. In the qualifying round, in which all three Styrian clubs (Graz, Kapfenberg and Fürstenfeld) have to enter, two places in the quarter-final play-off will be awarded.

In the top game of the round, champions BC Vienna won 81:78 once morest the Flyers Wels. Promoted BBC Nord Dragonz slipped into a 48:101 defeat once morest the Swans in their first Oberhaus guest appearance in Gmunden. Taillight Vienna Timberwolves surprisingly defeated fifth-placed SKN St. Pölten 83:80.
