Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Jurgen Klopp, coach of the English club Liverpool, commented on the “influence” of the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, following publishing a video in which he expressed his solidarity with the residents of Gaza, in light of the bad conditions and current developments in the Strip as a result of The ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.

In a press conference prior to the match between the Reds and Everton, a journalist asked Klopp regarding Salah’s “influence” following he published the video regarding developments in Gaza, and whether that was important to the German coach.

Jurgen Klopp replied, saying: “It is important that we have strong personalities, but I am not sure that this is the right place to discuss a very serious issue in a football environment.”

He continued by saying: “It is a good thing that no one asks you regarding your opinion on this issue, so I think we should leave this matter out of this room (the press conference room), but I have no doubt regarding Mohamed Salah’s character.”

The “Pharaohs” striker said in the video: “It is never easy to make statements at times like these. There was a lot of violence and a lot of extremely heartbreaking brutality. It is not possible to bear the escalating pace of violence for weeks.”

He added: “All lives are sacred and must be protected. The massacres must stop. Families are torn apart.”

Salah explained that “humanitarian support should be allowed to be provided to Gaza immediately. The people of Gaza are going through difficult situations. (Tuesday) we saw horrific scenes in the hospital. The people of Gaza need food, water and medicine immediately.”

Mohamed Salah concluded: “I appeal to all world leaders to join together to prevent further massacres of innocent people, and humanity must prevail.”
