Klopp’s Field of Dreams: How Football’s Fiercest Tactician Became a Silver Screen Storyteller

It seemed that Jurgen Klopp would need a lot of time to get back to the game after finishing his job at Liverpool. He would rather be seen retiring than being at the helm of a new club again. According to Florian Plettenberg, the German coach will return to work in January 2025, but in a completely new role.

But Klopp won’t rest?

Looking at the course of this nice man’s coaching career, it should be emphasized that he did not change jobs very often. Apart from his initial job as youth coach of FSV Mainz, he actually managed three senior clubs: FSV Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and of course Liverpool. His achievements are amazing. In recent years, he created an exciting fight against Guardiola’s Manchester City, which will be appreciated years later. As many as 97 points were not enough to win the championship in the 2018/19 season.

Klopp won, above all, two unexpected German championships with Borussia (the famous three Poles), the English championship with Liverpool, where he interrupted City’s domination, and the Champions League also with “The Reds”. In addition, he was twice voted the best coach of the year by FIFA. His achievements could be described in more detail, but such a summary tells us a lot about his profession. However, in January this year we heard sensationally that the season was ending Klopp will stop being Liverpool coach because he feels burnt out and tired.

His statement suggested a complete end to football rather than an imminent return in a few months. Jurgen Klopp emphasized that he definitely needs to rest to consider any proposals, which we reported regularly. For example, the US national team, which is preparing for the World Cup on home soil, really wanted him.

Nowa posada? „Global Head of Soccer”

On May 19, Klopp led Liverpool in his last match, winning against Wolves 2-0. The German lasted exactly 142 days without football-related work. Despite the announcement of a long rest, he was persuaded to return in a sensational way Red Bull. Jurgen will take up the above-mentioned position – he will supervise and support the development of three clubs belonging to this concern: RB Leipzig, Salzburg, but also New York Red Bulls. Ralf Rangnick once played this role.

It seems that this offer could have tempted Klopp due to the fact that he will not work strictly as a coach. He will be able to use his contacts and connections to develop the above-mentioned Red Bull clubs. He will not be in the spotlight, pressure and media discussions at every conference, but he will cooperate calmly with these entities from behind the scenes.

Your new job will start exactly on January 1, 2025as he informs Florian Plettenberg. Jurgen will enter into a long-term contract with Red Bull, but he has secured one very important option – the possibility of leaving at any time if offered to lead the German national teamj. This clause shows that Klopp wants to replace Julian Nagelsmann, whose contract ends with the World Cup in 2026.

In this case, we can only wait for the results of Klopp’s work in his new role, this time not as a coach, but as the strategic head of three teams.
