It has been confirmed that Liverpool (England) manager Jurgen Klopp has started signing Son Heung-min (Tottenham).

British media ‘Football London’ reported on the 30th (Korean time), “Klopp was planning to sign Son Heung-min if Tottenham Hotspur did not finish in the top four this season.”

In the EPL, the top four teams will qualify for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) next season. The UCL, where vast wealth and honors are pouring in, has a huge impact on the team and players just by securing a spot.

According to the media, “Klopp predicted that Tottenham would face big financial problems if they did not play in the UCL. So I even calculated that it would be easier to recruit Son Heung-min.”

Coach Klopp showed respect whenever he met Son Heung-min as a player on the opposing team, and showed great interest in approaching Son Heung-min and giving him a hug even following the match.

There was speculation that Klopp would prepare for the signing of Son Heung-min as much as he had a special affection for him, but it has been proven to some extent.

However, Tottenham succeeded in advancing to the UCL with Son Heung-min’s great performance and are ambitiously preparing for the next season. Klopp’s plan naturally went unnoticed.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are in a position to worry regarding a power gap, far from signing. After losing to Real Madrid (Spain) in the UCL final, Liverpool’s key striker Sadio Mane said, “I don’t have it, but I hope Liverpool will continue to challenge for the top of the UCL.”

As manager Klopp, who tried to sign Son Heung-min with the possibility of Mane’s transfer in mind in advance, it was a bittersweet situation in which Mane lost and Son Heung-min was not able to win as a result.
