Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said his team should be awarded the three points if their match once morest Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday was canceled due to protests from the fans once morest the club’s owners.
The date of the English Premier League football summit was changed in May 2021 following fans stormed the stadium before the start of the whistle to protest once morest the Glazer family, who owns United, and press reports said that the fans were planning similar actions in tomorrow’s match.
“I really hope this doesn’t happen, but if it does we have to get the three points,” Klopp told reporters.
He added, “There is nothing to do in front of this situation, and if the fans want the match not to take place, we cannot arrange another date and postpone it amid a busy schedule.”
The Glazers are under pressure following United’s poor start to the season, losing their first two matches and the club failing to meet its transfer targets.
Media have speculated that the Glazers are open to the idea of selling a minority stake in the club, and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe has expressed interest in investing in the club.
Liverpool are looking forward to their first win in the competition following a draw with Fulham and Crystal Palace.
