KLM looks at gender-neutral uniforms for cabin crew | Economy

Airline KLM wants to be a more inclusive company and is therefore adapting things. These may be small things, but the uniform regulations are also the subject of discussion. A spokesperson for the company confirms this when asked in response to a story in the AD.

“Diversity and inclusion is an important theme within KLM,” said the spokesperson. “That is why KLM is looking at how the uniform regulations can be adjusted, to give colleagues more room to be themselves in the uniform, whoever they are.”

As an example of improving things to be more inclusive, the spokesperson cites the well-known pictograms on toilets with baby changing facilities. “That image used to show a woman changing a baby, now there’s a baby.”

Adjusting the uniform, the face of KLM, is also on the agenda. “We expect our cabin crew to be prepared to wear the KLM uniform.” That’s why the company wants to make sure everyone feels comfortable with it.
