According to what the NHL Network learned on Friday, the Swede asked to be sent to other skies.
Klingberg is in the final year of a seven-season contract, which earned him an average of $ 4.25 million per year. He might become a free agent without compensation at the end of the 2021-2022 campaign.
The right-back and the training of Texas would have also had discussions for a possible extension of contract, but the two parties would have “hit a wall and have made no progress since”, according to the American network.
The 29-year-old athlete would have asked to be traded when negotiations for a new agreement reached a standstill.
If the Stars really decide to shop Klingberg, he might grab the attention of many teams looking for an attacking full-back. In eight seasons on the Bettman Tour, he amassed 343 points in 503 games. In 2021-2022, he has 16 points in 25 games.
Dallas is at the height of the fight for a playoff berth, scoring 34 points in 30 games, earning them 13th place in the Western Conference. The team is only four points behind the Edmonton Oilers, however. However, the Stars have played between three and five games less than the majority of the teams ahead, including the Alberta team.
