At the invitation of the city of Grado, the non-profit Klimt Foundation is supporting the “KLIMT PRINTED” exhibition through loans and new research. To this day, single sheets of paper and folders remain high-priced items on the art market.

These “masterpieces of Austrian reproduction art” (Neue Freie Presse, February 27, 1909, p. 10) were produced with precision using photographic printing techniques that are almost unfeasible today. They show the appearance and some of the colors of important Klimt paintings that were burned in the Immendorf Castle fire in May 1945, including the famous teacher image for the University of Vienna.

The Klimt Foundation has incorporated preliminary elements of its current research into the exhibition “Klimt Prints” curated by Roberto Festi and is currently publishing a monograph on Klimt and his printed works of publications. A major exhibition is also planned in Vienna.
