At around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, the 56-year-old from the Rohrbach district wanted to fill the tank of a vehicle with gasoline in his garage. So that he didn’t have to lift the 30 liter canister, he did so with an oil suction pump.
The hose and petrol can caught fire – a defect in the pump is suspected. The man wanted to prevent something worse from happening and pulled the burning canister out of the garage onto a lawn. He suffered burns of an indeterminate degree and had to be taken to the Rohrbach Clinic accompanied by an emergency doctor.
The Kleinzell volunteer fire department arrived and finally extinguished the burning canister.
