Kleinmünchen has a new district bus

The new bus line in the Kleinmünchen district connects Simonystrasse with the Lunzerstrasse industrial park and represents an additional service to the existing line 18 (Turmstrasse – Stahlwerk). Mayor Klaus Luger sees the new district line as visible proof that Linz is acting offensively when it comes to the Strengthening the business location. The bus would particularly benefit the employees of the companies located in the industrial park.

Vice Mayor Martin Hajart, in his role as chairman of the supervisory board of Linz AG Linien, is convinced that the new connection can offer Linz residents a real alternative to cars. Hajart thanked the companies and the Chamber of Commerce for their commitment.

Important criterion

Accessibility to the workplace by public transport is an important criterion for many employees, which is particularly true for apprentices, said Erich Frommwald, chairman of the industry division of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The location will be strengthened with the bus route. Klaus Schobesberger, chairman of the WKO Linz-Stadt, was pleased that the new city bus line might go into operation as a “joint initiative of 12 local companies and the WKO”.

District line 108 is predominantly financed by local companies in Lunzerpark. Around 36,000 euros were invested in the planning and construction of the route and the required infrastructure. According to Linz AG Linien, the annual operating costs amount to around 150,000 euros.

For more than 25 years, the district lines in Linz have been opening up areas that are not on the main public transport axes. They are feeders to the main transport lines and enable infrastructural facilities and local companies to be reached. In order to make this offer as customer-friendly as possible, Linz AG would attach great importance to dialogue with customers, according to General Director Erich Haider.

On February 1st, the very first district bus on line 108 will depart from the Simonystrasse stop at 5:49 a.m. and reach the final stop at Lunzerstrasse Ost just eleven minutes later. A total of six stops are served, five of which are in the Voestareal.
