Dhe Austrian actor Klaus Maria Brandauer will take up his guest professorship at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf at the end of March. The university announced on Tuesday that Brandauer would be giving lectures on March 30 and April 27. The 78-year-old world star is making up for the guest professorship that had already been announced for 2020 and was postponed due to Corona. Brandauer titled his professorship “Love, Revolution, Europe”. In his first lecture he wanted to talk regarding the topic “As a poet in the resistance – contemporary Heinrich Heine» to give a lecture, it was said.
The award-winning Brandauer has been a member of the ensemble and director at the Vienna Burgtheater since 1972. He achieved world fame with roles in “Mephisto”, “Out of Africa” and the James Bond film “Never Say Never”.
The guest professorship at Düsseldorf University has been awarded to prominent and opinionated personalities from German-speaking countries for more than 30 years. Author Juli Zeh, singer-songwriter Wolf Biermann, ex-Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer and former Federal President Joachim Gauck held Heine professorships.
