What started out as a small hobby developed over the years into an ambition to be able to compete in Hawaii one day. With the opening of the new swimming pool in Riedlingen, there was the opportunity to seriously push swimming and train regularly in a group. This laid the foundation for the first discipline in triathlon, swimming. Cycling is a pure diligence task, which might be covered well with the sporty circle of friends. In athletics, he had been running for a long time and was able to combine the training well.
The original goal should now be turned into reality at the Ironman event in Thun, Switzerland. The competition in Thun is one of the most beautiful routes, but due to the topography when cycling it is not one of the easiest. It was also a qualifying race for the Ironman Hawaii and Klaus Dorner received one of the 75 coveted tickets for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii thanks to his good performance. Klaus Dorner said that he himself would not have expected such a result in his first Ironman.
