Klaus Bachler has his sights set on his first podium in America at the classic in Sebring

After finishing fifth at Daytona, the Porsche driver travels to the 12-hour event in Florida with a lot of confidence. On the one hand, because his Team Pfaff Motorsports worked very intensively on the car, partly because the BOP has also improved slightly

For Klaus Bachler, fifth place at the season opener of the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship in Daytona was “the best considering the situation at the time”, but on the other hand there is still a lot of room for improvement”. . .

And that’s exactly where you want to start at the weekend (March 17th, 18th) in Florida – the 12 Hours of Sebring, the second longest race in the championship, is on the program there. Bachler will start with the new Porsche 911 GT3 R of the 992 generation in the GTPro class, his partners are once more Patrick Pilet from France and Laurens Vanthoor from Belgium.

Klaus Bachler: “Daytona was very difficult for us. The BOP in particular gave us a lot of trouble. You might already see in the training sessions that we just weren’t competitive. Now the organizers have made a small change. We will see at the weekend whether this is enough. But at least it’s going in the right direction. On the other hand, my Pfaff Motorsports team has been working hard over the last few weeks. All data from Daytona were analyzed in detail. Some things were found and improved. And that’s exactly what makes me confident regarding Sebring. We want to be on the podium – it would be my first in the USA!”

The almost 6 km long course with its 17 corners on the Sebring International Raceway has a special feature: 3.8 km is on asphalt, 1.9 km on concrete. And there are also pitfalls, Bachler knows: “The large number of curves, but above all the many bumps, make the course extremely demanding and difficult. The load on the material is huge. But it is also a real challenge for us drivers.”

Klaus Bachler also on the Nordschleife in 2023!
There is news apart from the IMSA series: Klaus Bachler will be driving on his beloved Nordschleife once more this year. Namely – how might it be otherwise – with Falken Motorsport. The “24 Hours” are planned at the Nürburgring for the time being, as well as a run for the NLS long-distance series as preparation
