Klagenfurt used long numerical superiority to 3:1 against Blau-Weiß

Ben Bobzien made it 1-0 (13th minute), five minutes later Blau-Weiß defender Fabio Strauss was shown the red card. Nevertheless, Ronivaldo equalized (45th+2) before the “jokers” Nicolas Binder (82nd minute) and Philipp Wydra (90th minute) decided the game.

After both teams had initially tested each other out, Linz professional Manuel Maranda made a serious mistake in front of 2,985 spectators. The defender made a bad pass in the opening play, Klagenfurt quickly switched, David Toschewski ran towards the visitors’ goal and perfectly set up Bobzien, who finished confidently.

Shortly afterwards, Bobzien, who had broken through, fell after a challenge with Strauss. Referee Julian Weinberger gave a red card for goal-stealing. However, Klagenfurt were unable to capitalize on their numerical superiority, were far too passive and were punished for this before half-time when Ronivaldo surprised goalkeeper Marco Knaller with a free kick from the edge of the box.

The second half began with a shot from Bobzien that was saved by goalkeeper Radek Vitek (47th minute). The Carinthians were now more aggressive in their attacking play, but they were unable to create any clear scoring opportunities for a long time – until the two jokers stepped in. Binder was successful with a direct shot into the near corner after a free kick cross, and Wydra followed on from a corner.
