AKEL’s Member of the European Parliament (EP) Niyazi Kızılyürek filed a complaint against President Ersin Tatar with the European Parliament (EP) on the grounds that the Turkish Cypriot side has terminated the participation of the Turkish Cypriot side in the “Imagine” training program.
In the news titled “Niyazi Kızılyürek Complained Ersin Tatar to the European Parliament”, the Haravgi newspaper reported that AKEL EP Deputy Niyazi Kızılyürek denounced President Tatar on the grounds that the Turkish Cypriot side terminated his participation in the bi-communal “Imagine” training program. He wrote that he had complained to the Education Committee.
According to the news, Kızılyürek stated in his statement on the subject that the EP Committee would send a letter to Tatar condemning his action.
Arguing that no bi-communal cultural or sports activities take place in Cyprus, Kızılyürek emphasized that this is unacceptable for the EU.
Kızılyürek also called on the President of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nikos Christodoulidis, and demanded that the students of both communities follow a policy of rapprochement that would enable them to visit each other and engage in sports activities.
Kızılyürek also claimed that “if Tatar continues its maximalist policy of two states in Cyprus, it will have harmful consequences”.
