Does kiwi raise blood sugar?

In this regard, Dr. Ahmed Anwar, a consultant internal medicine specialist, said that kiwi is one of the useful and safe fruits for diabetics, stressing that it does not lead to high blood sugar as is rumored.

Anwar explained that kiwi does not raise glucose in the blood following eating it, because it contains a small percentage of sugars, in addition to being rich in dietary fiber, which in turn helps slow down the absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine.

Another scientific evidence proving that kiwi does not raise blood sugar in diabetics is its “low glycemic index”, which is only 50 degrees, according to the “Glycemic Index Guide” website.

However, the internal medicine consultant recommended diabetic patients not to overeat kiwi, explaining that the permissible amount of it throughout the day ranges from 2 to 3 fruits, which should be eaten at intervals between meals.
