Kita Pusteblume deals with fair trade

“Fair Week”, which ends this Friday. That was almost a given. Last year, the Pusteblume was certified as one of a total of five day care centers in the district with the “Fair Daycare” label. It has now become clear that the institution sees this as an obligation.

The community provides full support for participation in the “Fair Week”. “The campaign is also an important part of our efforts to be certified as a ‘Fairtrade municipality’,” says Rommerskirchen’s structural change manager Florian Plück, who is leading this process. The community is thus in line with this year’s motto of “Fair Week”, which particularly highlights the urgency of the issue of climate justice and “Fair. And no more degrees” reads.

The children in Frixheim learned about some facets of fairness and justice. For example, a “participatory breakfast” with fair trade products was organized, and there was also a campaign in which the wheel of fortune spun and the boys and girls could win fair trade products. Daycare director Nicole Esser explained the idea behind it: “We want to offer an incentive so that the children get to know these products.”

In this way, they could potentially take awareness of fair trade home with them and perhaps convince their parents to buy such goods more often.
