The Kirchnerist bloc in the Senate of the Nation will present tomorrow a request for a special session to discuss a bill that sets wages of the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the Nation, senators and national deputies, judges of the Supreme Court, Attorney General, Counselors of the Judiciary and diplomats. The initiative comes amid the widespread rejection caused by the self-imposed increase by the Senators, which had one of the main promoters in the Frente de Todos bloc.

This is an initiative that was presented weeks ago by the senator from Formosa and space leader in the lower house, José Mayans (Formosa). According to the text, officials who hold the positions named above will not be able to charge more than 20 minimum salaries, currently set at $202,800. Therefore, the most they might charge is $4.056.000.

While in the case of ministers, secretaries, undersecretaries, Central Bank, judges, among others, it will be 15 minimum salaries: an equivalent of $3.042.000. In article 4, the project leaves out “the remunerations of the agents included in the Collective Labor Agreement for the Personnel of the National Public Employment System and the agents in analogous regimes in other state departments that are governed by the provisions of their corresponding collective agreements.”

In turn, the The National Salary Council will be in charge of “determining the salary scales of the highest national authorities and the highest authorities of the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch and Judicial Branch.”. The move by Kirchnerism comes days following the Senate approved a significant increase in their diets without debate and by show of hands.
