The “Kirch’Klang Festival”, which plays music in sacred rooms and castles in the Salzkammergut, has been known for several years for its lavish program.
This year too, from May 24th to September 28th, this call for “actual madness”, as director Martin Haselböck jokingly called it during the program presentation, is being lived up to: at 18 locations – all located within the geographical triangle that forms the festival communities of Salzburg, Seewalchen and Bad Aussee make up 25 projects.
The “Benjamin Schmid Jazz Trio” will kick things off on May 24th in the Bad Aussee parish church of St. Paul with “Bach: Reflected”. Finally, on September 6th we invite you to a festival in Leopoldskron Castle (drama and music by Max Reinhardt).
In between, not only will actor August Zirner appear at the recitation in St. Gilgen (August 24, “Prometheus”), but there will also be collaborations with the Capital of Culture 2024 and KulturEXPO, which is responsible for the Anton Bruckner Year.
Bruckner’s 200th birthday will be commemorated at the “Kirch’Klang” festival on June 22nd at the “Brucknerfest” in the Maria Attersee parish church – of course with works by the man celebrating his birth as well as by Liszt and Mendelssohn Bartholdy. With Salzkammergut 2024, the “Organ Moves!” festival (June 6th – 8th) will celebrate, among other things, the finale of an organ improvisation competition, in which three young organists will set silent films to music in the Bad Ischl parish church of St. Nikolaus.
On September 1st, “Kirch’Klang” and the Capital of Culture will look back on “Arnold Schönberg am Traunsee” in the Villa Toscana in Gmunden (exhibition) and in the monastery hall in Traunkirchen (concert, reading) – this is where Schönberg put his first twelve-tone composition on paper.
