Kirby is (already) making a comeback with a gourmet and multiplayer game

To everyone’s surprise, Nintendo has unveiled in recent hours the first images of Kirby’s Dream Buffetexpected this summer on Switch.

More discreet than Mario or Zelda, Kirby is nonetheless one of the most emblematic characters in Nintendo’s rich history. Thirty years following its first appearance in Kirby’s Dream Land, the adorable but powerful pink ball is at the head of a vast franchise, which has accumulated thirty games and more than 38 million copies sold worldwide. Last March, fans were also able to discover Kirby and the Forgotten World, a refreshing opus highlighting open worlds.

Who will be the most greedy to win the victory?

And the least we can say is that Kirby seems to have taken a liking to the Nintendo Switch (which celebrates its 5th anniversary this year), since he is already preparing to make his return. This summer, it will indeed be possible to discover Kirby’s Dream Buffet, a title that will include its share of obstacle courses on the theme of food to hurtle down in local multiplayer as well as online. Available exclusively on Nintendo eShop on the Switch, Kirby’s Dream Buffet will see a gaggle of Kirbys race as they roll along food-themed circuits in competitions spanning four rounds.

During each round, each Kirby will have to devour the maximum number of strawberries possible to grow and better shake up their competitors, or even get their hands on powers (called “power snacks”) to help them nibble a few places in the rankings and taste the joys of victory. The title barely announced, many Internet users did not hesitate to compare it to one of the most popular games of the moment: Fall Guys. However, the title also seems to be inspired by games such as Kirby’s Tilt’n Tumble or mini-game Gourmet Race of Kirby Super Star.

New revelations regarding the game that should not delay any longer

What is certain is that Kirby’s Dream Buffet promises players to have fun by stimulating a bit of competition between friends. To take full advantage of this title and these worlds imagined on the theme of gluttony, Nintendo will go further by offering equipment. The My Nintendo Store sells a carrying case and a Switch controller in the colors of Kirby. At this time, we don’t know more regarding these mysterious special skills, but Nintendo promises to reveal more regarding the game in the coming weeks.

Regarding the release, the title is announced for the summer, but once more we will have to wait to know the exact date. After the vast adventure of Forgotten WorldNintendo knows how to properly celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ever-popular Kirby.
