Kinshasa: two Kenya Airways agents arrested for attempting to export 8 million USD from TMB

Two agents of the Kenya Airways airline were arrested by military intelligence for attempting to export 8 million USD from TMB presented as “unfit for circulation” and which were intended for the American federal reserve in New York.

According to judicial sources, it would be a Kenyan subject and a Congolese subject.

“These two agents would be at the base of a system aimed at making 8 million US dollars disappear from the TMB. They will each have to answer for their responsibilities before the Congolese justice system. The examinations will show whether the company is affected by this maneuver or not,” the judicial sources said.

Note that piled up in boxes, the funds had been detained by the security services at N’djili international airport.

For their part, Kenya Airways and the Kenyan embassy in the DRC complain of having no means of contacting the two arrested agents. According to the latest information, the Kenyan ambassador to the DRC and some company executives had managed to speak with the two arrested agents for only a few minutes but nothing more. The cell phones of these agents were confiscated by DEMIAP, we learned.
