When Marc Bergevin was fired, many people thought he was going to get back on his feet. This is finally what he did, a few weeks later, being hired by the Kings.
He was not, however, named CEO. This year he was an advisor to CEO Rob Blake and for the next three years he will be his deputy.
Never in the contract was there any question of him being named CEO. That said, due to his friendship with President Luc Robitaille and DG (Blake) who was out of contract, there were rumours.
That said, you shouldn’t believe it. And as a matter of fact, according to Pierre LeBrun, Blake would have signed a three-year contract extension to remain the CEO of the Californian formation.

This means that Marc Bergevin will not become Phillip Danault’s CEO once more. Barring a misfortune concerning Rob Blake (a health problem, for example), the door is closed.
As expected.
If the Kings receive a request for Bergevin to interview elsewhere to become GM, they will accept. Bergevin is in town to keep himself in the middle, in fact.
What is unfortunate for Bergevin is that several positions have been filled this year. The Ducks, Blackhawks and Canucks have all found takers in recent months.
The CH too, but…
Currently, the only club looking is the San Jose team. There might be more openings in the coming months, but as of today, it’s pretty slim in terms of the number of positions to be filled.
